The North American even production company that was originally behind SnowScene and next month's Big Mountain Experience has been purchased by IMG, one of the largest sports firms in the world.

Although an official release about the purchase is expected in the new year, officials have confirmed that MASEV is alive and well and is now a subsidiary of IMG.

When MASEV was forced to close its doors in November the Whistler Events Bureau - made up of representatives from the Resort Municipality of Whistler, Tourism Whistler and Whistler-Blackcomb - handled operations of the Dec. 11-14 SnowScene, which included snowboard World Cup events. SnowScene was a success, although one concert was cancelled.

MASEV also played an important role in securing the Snowboard World Championships, which will be held in Whistler in 2005.

The Whistler Events Bureau had previously hired IMG to do the broadcast sales of the Snowboard World Championships, so there is a level of synergy already among the three entities.
