Interchill heats up their stereotypical downtempo stylings to head-bobbing speed for an uptempo dance floor Friday, March 30 at the Garibaldi Lift Company (GLC).
“Downtempo covers everything from reggae to world beat,” explained Andrew Ross Collins, founder of Interchill Records, based out of Saltspring. “It’s mellow house music, ambient. Music people listen to in their own environment. We’ll be stepping it up a notch to make music people can dance and groove to.”
Whistler’s own Select R Us, famous for his dance beats at showings such as the Vancouver and Shambala music festivals, will step up to the deck along with Collins and Alisa Dowling.
Interchill Records distributes talent across the globe via Warner Music Canada with representatives in Canada, the U.S., U.K., Brazil, Mexico, Australia and Japan.
The Saltspring Island group also publishes music for films, including extreme sports videos such as well-known favourites Let It Ride! Based on legend Craig Kelly.
“We’ll be showcasing more up-tempo dance floor friendly material at the GLC, but with the same Interchill aesthetic,” Collins said.
Dowling knows how to keep a floor hopping with everything from dub and chill to world beat. The former music director of The Studio 96.8 FM spans genres from all corners of the globe for an eclectic rather than specific music wave.
