As of Jan. 23 the entire Whistler Interpretive Forest area, roads and trails, will be closed to the public as the Olympic Integrated Security Unit extends a security perimeter around the Olympic and Paralympic Athletes Village in Whistler.
That includes the Cheakamus Lake Road, the Microwave Tower Road, Far Side Trail, Riverside Trail and all roads, side roads and trails that surround the athletes' village.
The Interpretive Forest parking lot is also being taken over by the Vancouver Organizing Committee. The Cheakamus Lake Parking Lot is closed.
None of these areas will reopen to the public until March 31.
As well, various Forest Service Roads around Olympic venues will be closed during the Games. The list includes the Brandywine FSR (Feb. 1 to March 21), The Callaghan East FSR (already closed in October, reopening March 31), and the roads to Jane Lakes and the west side of Black Tusk. There is no stopping or parking along the Daisy Lake forest service roads, and no access beyond the Whistler Bungee Bridge, Jan. 4 to March 31.
Whistler Way will close at the conference centre on Jan. 29, reopening on Feb. 28.
Parking lot closures include the Whistler Conference Centre underground Jan. 24 to April 4, day skier lots 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 from Feb. 1 to March 26, and Lot 6 Feb. 4 to March 4. Lots 7 and 8 are already closed.
In Creekside, the P1 level and surface level closed to the public earlier this month and won't reopen until April 21. As of Feb. 1 all of P2, P3 and P4 will be unavailable through to March 21, and 100 spaces of P2 will remain unavailable until April 21.
