Intrawest Corporation holding strong Intrawest Corporation figures for the end of March 1999 paint a lush picture of resort town business. Overall, for the eight mountain resorts it operates across the continent, the corporation can boast a six per cent increase in skier visits. Customer spending was also up by six per cent, making a total same-resort revenue increase of 12 per cent. Whistler/Blackcomb led the pack with an increase in skier-visits of 318,000. Tremblant followed with an increase of 55,000 over the previous year. The release gives a more non committal reference to success in the States. "The company’s US resorts generally outperformed their competition." But all is well in real estate. "The company also announced that pre-sales of real estate slated to close in 2000 and 2001 have reached approximately $310 million Canadian." Resort developments have been selling out in a matter of hours at Copper, Tremblant and Panorama mountains. Four new real estate projects are coming on-line at Solitude in Utah, Mammoth in California and Whistler. "Destination visits fill the mid-week periods and provide the highest revenue per visit," says executive VP and chief financial officer Daniel Jarvis. "Consequently the success of these recent launches is not only driving future real estate income but is expanding our villages, which adds growth and stability to our operating income."
