Pique's Canada Day quiz has become a tradition around these parts and we hope this year won't disappoint.

For weeks office staff has been posing questions to each other and researching answers all for the fun of hopefully finding a few questions that stump our readers.

Here are a few of the questions you'll be facing tomorrow, but you only get one answer.

To get the rest of the quiz be sure to pick up Pique !

• Why is the beaver a national symbol? Bonus: what coin is it on?

• Who has been recognized as Canada's greenest Prime Minister?

• Which kilt-wearing Canadian musician kicked high enough during a performance on Late Night with Conan O'Brien that his genitals were visible to the studio and television audience? (He's playing in Whistler this summer!)

• What is the name of moose now living at the High Performance Centre?

Why is the national symbol not the mighty polar bear or the majestic moose? Good question. Well as most of you know it's the hard-working and noble beaver, which was chosen as a national emblem in 1975. It was the beaver, after all, that was main commercial attraction in the late 1600s and early 1700s, when the fashion of the day demanded fur hats, which needed beaver pelts. HBC honoured the animal by putting it on the shield of its coat of arms. It was only a matter of time before the animal was upgraded to official emblem status. Bonus answer: the beaver is on the Canadian nickel.
