Whistlers Mike Janyk got one step closer to his dream of skiing on the Canadian Alpine Ski Team on Feb. 28 with a ninth place finish in the super-G at the World Junior Championships in Tarvisio, Italy. The 21-year-old has been a member of the national development team since 2000.
Cameron Barnes of Canmore, Alberta, joined Janyk in the top-15 with a 13 th place finish.
Peter Fill of Italy easily won the gold, whileAustrias Peter Struger and Norways Akael-Lund Svindal trailed Fill by half a second to tie for second place.
Mikes older sister Britt is currently a member of the national team.
