Jennifer Jones Whistler BearFoundation president Sylvia Dolson is off to Kamloops for a human-bear conflictworkshop slated for Jan. 23-24

The event is being hosted by the B.C. Conservation Foundation and Dolson has been invited to give a presentation and lead a discussion on Whistler’s “non-lethal” bear management program.

Attendees will include wildlife managers from across the province as well as several ministry officials. Dolson said she is excited by the tremendous interest generated by Whistler’s bear management methods. “This is an excellent opportunity to take the program province-wide.”

Dolson hopes to be able to secure a commitment to funding so more training sessions can be scheduled for Whistler RCMP and local conservation officials with Steve Searles — the Mammoth, California “bear man” who spearheaded a non-lethal management program.
