Jordan Sturdy has a cake walk to his third term as Pemberton's mayor.

The Village of Pemberton confirmed Friday that no one had emerged to file papers for the job. The deadline was 4 p.m.

Sturdy was first elected to the job in the 2005 election as a member of a group calling itself Valley Vision: Leadership in Action.

He was re-elected in 2008 and has overseen a busy time in Pemberton's history that has included the 2008 Pemberton Music Festival, the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralypmic Games and a boundary expansion approved this year that brought at least 20 new properties into the Village boundaries.

Sturdy faced a challenge in the 2008 election from David MacKenzie, who served as a councillor after himself being elected under the Valley Vision banner.

Candidates for Pemberton council are incumbents Ted Craddock and Al LeBlanc, along with newcomers James Linklater, Mike Richman, Robert (Turbo) Szachury, Jessica Turner and Niki Vankerk.

Pat MacKenzie, the former principal at Signal Hill Elementary School, has been acclaimed as the Village of Pemberton's trustee on the board of the Sea to Sky School District.
