Junior Golf Tour continues

The second two events of the North Shore Credit Union Sea to Sky Junior Tour took place on Aug. 2 at Nicklaus North Golf Club and Aug. 9 at Big Sky Golf and Country Club in Pemberton.

The second two events of the North Shore Credit Union Sea to Sky Junior Tour took place on Aug. 2 at Nicklaus North Golf Club and Aug. 9 at Big Sky Golf and Country Club in Pemberton.

Matt Powell was the top senior (age 15-18) at Nicklaus North with a round of 83, followed by Riley Kufta with an 84 and Max von Kleist with an 86. In the novice division (age 11-14) Brett Kelly shot a low round of 88, followed by Ethan Fairley with a 92 and Alex Sykora with a 94.

Mark McKenzie was the top senior at Big Sky with a solid round of 75. Jesse Watt was second with a 77, while Stefano Sidonio finished with a 78. Ethan Fairley was the top junior with a low 79, followed by Casey Svejkovdky with an 86 and Brett Kelly with a 90.

The last two events are on Wednesday, Aug. 17 at Pemberton Valley Golf Club, and at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club on Aug. 22.

Squamish hosting women’s amateur championship

The Royale Cup National Women’s Amateur Championship will wrap up on Sunday after four rounds at the Squamish Valley Golf and Country Club. The event will feature 120 of the top female amateur golfers from around Canada, including defending champion Mary Ann Lapointe of Ontario. Lapointe will be joined by 10 provincial champions, as well as other golfers with tournament rankings.
