Three Whistler golfers from Nicklaus North Golf Club have been competing in the Zone 4 Junior Tour this spring, and posting solid results against golfers throughout the Lower Mainland. The maximum handicap applied on the tour is a 10.
At the Capilano Junior Invitational in April, Casey Svejkovsky posted a gross score of 80, or 71 after his handicap, tying several other golfers for sixth place. Ethan Fairly also competed in that tournament, finishing with an 83.
At Point Grey the following week, Brett Kelly finished with an 84 near the back of the pack.
At the Beach Grove Invitational, Svejkovsky, 15, posted a score of 72, tying for second place. Kelly picked up his game to finish with a 77, after his five handicap was applied, while Fairly finished with an 83.
At Shaughnessy in early May, Kelly and Svejkovsky finished with scores of 77, well back of the leaders.
Svejkovsky stepped up at Quilchena Golf Club the next Saturday to finish with a 68 after 77 strokes, tying for the top net score of the day.
At the Vancouver Junior Invitational on May 12, Kelly posted a net 76, and Svejkovsky a 77.
At the Squamish Invitational the following Saturday, Svejkovsky posted a net score of 71, tying the top net score of the day. He also tied for 13 th overall out of more than 70 golfers. Fairly posted a 79 at that event, while Kelly posted a net score of 85.
In Richmond Saturday, May 26, Svejovsky ended with a net score of 73, tying for fourth as his handicap was reduced to eight.
The ninth stop of the tour was on Sunday, May 27 at Seymour. Svejkovsky posted a 70 net, placing second to a local who shot a par 72 before his five handicap was applied. Brett Kelly posted an 81.
The last event is the Junior Tour Final at Mayfair Lakes, which will feature the top-24 players from the tour.
