Howe Sound district schools have started their budgeting process for the next school year and are currently prioritizing school spending needs. Part of this process is taking a good hard look at population projections and, for a rapidly growing facility like Myrtle Philip, the big variable is always Kindergarten enrolment. The week of March 27 is Kindergarten registration week. "It’s really going to be telling for us," principal Bob Daly told the Myrtle Philip PAC last week. He said Myrtle Philip is lucky in that Whistlerites tend to register early and by June the school should have a good handle on the number of children they are likely to have come September. Population projections for the older grades, on the other hand, are a little easier. Usually those numbers are just bumped up a little.
