Sea to sky appoints new health services co-ordinator By Andrew Mitchell Barb Kinnon will be the new health services co-ordinator for the Whistler Health Care Centre and Pemberton Health Care Centre, starting Nov. 1. Kinnon is a registered nurse with 20 years of experience. "Barb brings to our organization considerable qualifications and extensive experience in health care management," says Brian Kines, CEO of the Sea to Sky community Health Council. "We're fortunate to have her join our leadership team." In the past, each facility had its own co-ordinator: Russell Hemmingson in Whistler, who was promoted within the Sea to Sky Community Health Council, and Cathy McLeod in Pemberton, who has moved to Kamloops. As health services co-ordinator, Kinnon will be involved in the day-to-day running of both the Whistler and Pemberton facilities and will play a large role in the proposed restructuring and improvement of health services. Kinnon's credentials include a Certificate in Health Care Administration, a Masters of Science in Nursing, a Financial Management and Quality Assurance Certificate, and a Certificate of Health Care Ethics. Meanwhile, Squamish General Hospital has added a second general surgeon to its staff. Dr. Robert Patterson joins Squamish General Hospital from Leamington, Ontario. The second surgeon allows the hospital to have 24-hour on-call coverage for all general surgical services.
