You folks do not understand the process here. The Defendant is in breach of his coverage and thereby has no insurance coverage. If the Plainiffs were to proceed against the Defendant alone, the Defendant would likely be judgment proof and they would receive nothing. As ICBC has stepped in as a Third Party to the action, the Plaintiffs now have a large corporation with a tonne of money from which they can get a damages award.
I'm no flag waver for ICBC, but at least I make sure to understand the facts prior to condemnation.
