Whistlers FIS team is looking for a place to train, according to the teams latest newsletter to athletes.
"Back to back chinooks have led to dramatically deteriorated training conditions in the Rockies and currently there are only a few areas open for training Nakiska and a couple of areas in Colorado," Whistler Mountain Ski club coach Brett Macfarlane told his athletes. "We have been waiting for the weather to improve but it only gets worse each day."
The team left Whistler on Nov. 21 to train in the Rockies in anticipation of a NorAm competition at Lake Louise from Dec. 3 to 11, followed by Nabob Cup Series races at Panorama from Dec. 13 to 16.
The list of training options included Apex and Panorama, but 20 degree Celsius weather and heavy rains "washed away hopes of Apex and Panorama as options," says Macfarlane.
The team will likely have to compete with other teams for hill space, which is at a premium this year because of the limited number of facilities that are open and have adequate snow.
