Lake Louise a go

With the help of a man-made blizzard, the courses for Lake Louise World Cup and Nor Am speed races planned for the next three weeks met the approval of International Ski Federation (FIS) officials this week.

Training began on Wednesday for the men’s World Cup downhill and super-G, which will run this Saturday and Sunday. The women’s World Cup downhill and super-G take place the following weekend, and will be followed by Nor Am speed events.

Unseasonably mild temperatures slowed the snowmaking effort, until things got colder late last week.

The mountain will continue making snow around the clock until the events.

More than 150 volunteers are helping the race organizers to get the courses in World Cup shape for this weekend.
