The Whistler RCMP is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a man wanted in a village assault, which occurred at roughly 2:45 a.m. on June 9. Three males were walking along Village Stroll near Village Square when they noticed an intoxicated man approaching. They tried to avoid him, but the suspect became aggressive and hit one of the males in the head with a beer bottle before fleeing.

The male victim was not injured. The police were unable to find the alleged attacker. He is described as a six-foot-one, Caucasian, with light-coloured hair and jeans.

If you saw anything, please contact the Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Intoxicated female stiffs taxi, breaks and enters, flees police

A 21-year-old Whistler woman got off with a night in the cells and a ticket for being intoxicated in public after a series of late-night escapades.

Just before midnight on June 10, the woman was taken to a house on Fitzsimmons Creek by a taxi. Instead of paying the driver she got out of the cab and ran to a house, letting herself in.

The driver knocked on the door and was greeted by the owner of the property, who didn't know who the female was — only that she was using his bathroom. When she was confronted by the homeowner and driver, she ran again, cutting through yards before police found her further down the road.

She was unable to remember where she lived or the phone numbers of any friends, and was arrested for public intoxication and held until sober. She also paid off the taxi.

Nightclub statue taken. recovered

A statue of a cowboy that stands outside a local nightclub was taken by two or more suspects on June 12. The theft was reported after 2:30 a.m. on June 12 and likely occurred between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m.

It seems the thieves didn't get very far. While the heavy statue could have been lifted by two or three individuals it would have been hard to carry it a long way. It was recovered from a driving range on Whistler Way on Wednesday morning.

Skateboarder crashes into vehicle

An 18-year-old Whistler male on a skateboard was injured after crashing into a vehicle at 6:35 p.m. on June 11 in the Bayshores subdivision.

According to the RCMP, a driver in a Jeep was driving down Cheakamus Way when a skateboarder turned onto the road from Kadenwood Road, not stopping at the stop sign or signaling. Once the skateboard was past the driver pressed the gas once again, unaware that a second skateboarder was also coming down the road. The boarder struck the front left bumper of the vehicle, fracturing his foot.

There were no charges laid against the driver of the vehicle, which was undamaged, or against the skateboarder.

"The message is that when you're on a skateboard or bicycle you have to obey the traffic laws, stop signs and red lights just like a motor vehicle," said RCMP Sergeant Eric Rochette.

Driver avoids impaired charges

A vehicle with malfunctioning lights was pulled over at 10:25 p.m. on June 9, spurring an impaired driving investigation. The driver, a 26-year-old Whistler resident, failed the roadside test, and was taken to the RCMP detachment where he provided samples of .08 and .07, too low for impaired charges. He did receive a 24-hour hour suspension and a 90-day administrative driving prohibition.
