A day of discovery with a focus on women's leadership is set for next month in Squamish.

The Sea to Sky Women's Leadership Day will bring emerging leaders together with established leaders in their fields in the Sea to Sky corridor. Organizer Catherine Rockandel said the day would appeal to women at different levels of their leadership journey.

The workshops are designed to share insights and build on participant knowledge. The goal is to support women to affect greater change in their lives, families, communities and workplaces.

"What we're looking to do is essentially create a day where women, whether they are interested in leadership in the community or leadership at home or leadership at work, where they can come and network with other women, and learn some new skills, maybe discover something new about themselves, perhaps find a new direction that they're interested in," said Rockandel.

She said the plans for the day would include Laurin Kyle Boyle's Passion Test.

"It supports individuals to discover what they're passionate about and identify directions that can inform in life choices," Rockandel said. "It's a really fun, interesting way to help people to look at what are their passions, what are their talents and how can they make choices that are aligned with their values."

Bernie Lalor-Morton of Focus Forward Coaching and Consulting is going to lead a session called Women and Money — Strategies for Success. Lisa Princic will discuss steps to achieving personal, educational and career goals; Cathy Goddard plans to deliver a session on leadership at work; Christine Buttkus will present "Leadership in the Community."

The cost of the day is $25 including a buffet lunch. Tickets can be purchased online at http://seatoskywomenleaders.eventbrite.ca. The Howe Sound Women's Centre and Sea to Sky Community Services are presenting the event in the Sea to Sky Hotel on Saturday, Oct. 20 with registration starting at 9:30 a.m.
