Letter to the editor

The Senior Boys Basketball team from Whistler secondary has just returned from competing in the B.C. High School Provincial Championship Tournament in Castlegar. This group of young men have been playing together for the last four years, and their goal throughout those years has been to compete at this tournament. Their dream came true at the end of February when they defeated a very strong team from St. Thomas Aquinas in our zone playoffs.

At that point, we had less then two weeks to fund-raise enough money to help pay for the four days in Castlegar. As they have done so often in the past, several of the businesses of the Whistler community showed their support of the high school by helping the team make it to this tournament.

The team would like to express their sincere thanks to the following businesses that helped make their trip possible: the staff of Whistler Real Estate, the Grocery Store, Nesters, Sea to Sky Real Estate, Whistler Executive Accommodations, Whistler Taxi, Whistler Towing, Peter Shrimpton, Mountain Crests, Penalty Box, Dr. John Roberts-Creekside Dental, Junction Café, Whistler Storall, Food Plus, Steve Milstein, Cougar Mountain at Whistler, Re/Max, Wildflower Enterprises, North Shore Credit Union, Little Mountain Bakery, Coca Cola, Whistler Vending, Marshall Arts, Dual Mountain Dry Cleaners, IGA, Whistler Peak Properties.

They would also like to give a huge thank you to their coach, Ken McIntyre, who devoted many hours of his time to help the team throughout the season. You are amazing.
