The latest long batch of clear blue skies has a few locals already itching for spring, and the Whistler Public Library has just announced its latest fundraising event, the Spring Swing Fling, to be held on Good Friday, April 18.

The night will feature the Malvern Swing Band and Jazz Choir, a 56-person band comprising a 35-piece swing band and a 17-strong jazz and concert choir.

Malvern Swing Band and Jazz Choir hail from Malvern High School in Toronto. Arriving April 16 the Grade 10-12 students are going to be billeted to local library supporters for three days, no doubt filling their hosts’ houses with all sorts of musical sounds as they practice.

The concert will be held at The Den and Patio, Nicklaus North Clubhouse from 8 p.m. to midnight. Only 300 tickets will be sold at $35 per person, a price that includes appetizers, prizes, dancing, and an Easter bonnet parade. Call Gill Schramm at 604-932-5791 or the Whistler Public Library for more information.

Other upcoming Whistler Public Library fundraising events include Imagination: a gala festival affair to be held at The Westin Resort and Spa in early April and the annual Whistler Public Library Wine Festival in early May.
