Lions recruiting in April The Whistler Lions Club, part of the largest service group in the world, is on a community membership drive during April. The Whistler club, chartered in 1985, is down to six members, a number that makes it almost impossible for the club to perform any of its traditional fund raising activities. Over the years the Whistler Lions have made funds available to the Dandelion Day Care, Whistler Medical Centre, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Whistler Food Bank and to Myrtle Philip School, for field trips. The club has also made donations to people in need of wheel chairs, fire relief and transportation. A few years ago the club attempted to introduce a Whistler dollar. The effort failed due to poor marketing research. The club has almost eliminated the debt it incurred with the Whistler dollar and is ready to get back on its feet again. Anyone who would like to be a part of the Whistler Lions should call Jim Eglinski, at 932-3044, or Rod MacLeod, at 932-3232.
