It seems that a few local musicians have been busy in the studio, lately.

Ruffian Royale recently wrapped up their self-produced album, entitled Juniper Flowers, Vol. 1.

The men behind the music are long-time friends, Bryce St. Arnaud and Chris Kasavant. With St. Arnaud on vocals, guitar and bass, and Kasavant on guitar and drums, their sound is a simultaneously upbeat, laidback mixture of early rock, roots and reggae.

Both St. Arnnaud and Kasavant grew up in Whistler, and collaborated with local musicians from throughout the Sea to Sky region on their latest album. They’ve also embraced technology, and are offering up their new, nine-track EP for free on their website. Check out www.ruffianroyale.com , and watch for upcoming local gigs.

And Ruffian Royale isn’t the only group with local ties that is offering up new music.

The all-female, pop, indie, folk-rock band Lotus, based out of Vancouver/Squamish, plans to release their latest album, Under The Sun , in Vancouver on Sept. 23.
