Local knowledge key when putting down roots in Pemberton

Local knowledge is one thing; proudly calling a place home for the majority of your life is another. Thankfully, for Danielle Menzel’s clients, she possesses both of those attributes.

Local knowledge is one thing; proudly calling a place home for the majority of your life is another.

Thankfully, for Danielle Menzel’s clients, she possesses both of those attributes.

Menzel, who was born and grew up in Pemberton, has deep roots there and a wealth of contacts through family and friends. She has been in the local real estate business for the past decade-and-a-half.

So, who better to get you into the local scene with a home that perfectly fits your needs and lifestyle?

“There’s something that comes from spending most of your life in pretty much the same place,” says Menzel who briefly left Pemberton after high school but came back later to raise her family. “It’s the experience, stories and anecdotes you accumulate.

“And for me, I really enjoy introducing people to Pemberton. Plus, I love helping people from here stay in their community.”

What’s the allure of Pemberton for long-timers and newcomers?

“We’re not that far from the big city and have Whistler nearby, but we’re still a small, farming community,” Menzel says.

“It checks so many boxes. People are coming here for the lifestyle that we offer, that small-town feel you don’t often get in bigger urban areas.

“It’s a little bit granola and a little bit redneck,” she laughs. “You have the old-timers — the farmers and loggers, and then you have the people who came here wanting to be close to the mountains — the backcountry enthusiasts, mountain bikers, skiers, and snowmobilers.”

As for what’s available, Pemberton has everything from condos and vacant land to single-family homes and farm acreages.

To match a home or property to a client, Menzel taps into her vast local knowledge.

“I know where the sun rises and sets, and where to get the most sun in the winter,” she says. “I am also fortunate I know so many people, it gives me an edge when it comes to answering questions about the area.”

But at the end of the day, much of her job comes down to helping dreams become a reality.

“I sell what I truly believe in,” she says. “And my goal is to help people figure out how to make their dreams possible, even if it is a long-term proposition.”

That dream speaks to the many young families and retirees who are leaving larger cities to join their adult children and grandchildren in Pemberton.

“A lot of people are looking at making a connection in the community,” says Menzel. “And that certainly ties in with my slogan – Pemberton: where your roots have room to grow.”
