One again a handful of Whistler runners made it through the draw to take part in the annual Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco, an event where runners are just as likely to find pedicure or chocolate stations on the side of the course as water stations.

Carlee Howell and Liane Dunsmuir, both in their first full 42.2 km marathon, chose to run together and finished in four hours, 23 minutes and 25 seconds.

Brandi Higgins, who also raced last year, finished in 4:27:12.

Dishi Thind crossed the line in 4:59:17.

Tami Mitchell almost pulled out with an injured knee, but opted to alternately run and walk the course. She finished in 6:05:23.

Liz Brownlie did the 21.1 km half marathon in 1:50:25.

Almost 5,000 women raced the marathon distance, and another 11,526 did the half marathon.
