Locals quick in B.C. Cup

The B.C. Cup season got underway last weekend with downhill and dual slalom events in Parksville, billed as the 10th annual Hammerfest weekend.

In the downhill, Whistler’s Claire Buchar, who is riding for Balfa Cycles, finished in fifth place with a time of four minutes, 24.85 seconds among the Elite Women.

Although she rode alone in the Junior Expert Women category, Norco rider Brook Baker finished with a time of 4:19.37 – good enough for the top five in the Elite category.

The turnout for the race was phenomenal with more than 250 competitors in the downhill category, a new record for a B.C. Cup race.

Did we miss anyone?
