Locals triathletes just peachy 

A group of local triathletes went to Penticton for July 21 to participate in the annual Investors Group Peach Classic Triathlon Championships. It’s an Olympic-length triathlon with a 1.5 kilometre swim, a 40 km bike ride and a 10 km run.

The first Whistler runner over the line was Francois Fournier, who was 13 th in the men’s 30 to 34 division with a total time of 2:17:57.

Paul Suter was next, competing in the 40 to 44 age group. He was seventh with his time of 2:20:07.

Paul Nicholas, competing in the 30 to 34 race, was 17 th in 2:20:08.

Daniel Havens was seventh in the men’s 45 to 49 race with a time of 2:27:29.

Stephanie Rochon, racing in the women’s 25 to 29 group, was 11 th with her time of 2:42:03.

Scott Brammer was 47 th in the 30 to 34 age group in 2:53:45.

Murray Coates was third overall in the 60 to 64 age category in 2:55:22.

Mae Palm was first in the women’s 60 to 64 category in 2:57:01.

The Peach Triathlon attracted more than 430 athletes, and despite the intense heat 423 of the racers finished.
