London 2012 ticket sales officially open

Canadian Olympic Committee launches six-week request phase for individual event tickets, through CoSport, on March 15

With 500 days to go, Canadians can officially begin submitting their ticket purchase requests to the 2012 Olympic Games - July 27 to August 12, 2012.

The first phase of tickets sales will be handled exclusively through an on-line request phase at www.cosport.com, open from March 15 through April 22, 2011 (12:00 midnight EST).

During this request phase all applicants will have an equal chance of being awarded requested tickets. CoSport will begin to fulfill ticket requests from available inventory once this initial request phase has concluded. In the case that ticket requests exceed available inventory for any session, a lottery process will be conducted by CoSport at the end of April.

"With the success of the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games still echoing across the country, the support and excitement now shifts to Canada's summer Olympians and their drive to the podium in London 2012," said Chris Overholt, Canadian Olympic Committee COO.

"Working with an experienced organization such as CoSport will ensure Canadians are serviced with the utmost professionalism and attention as they make their plans to head to the Games in London to support Canada's Olympic Team."

During the initial ticket launch, more than 14,000 tickets will be available for purchase to more than 650 sporting sessions. Over half the tickets offered during this initial request phase will be priced under $150 USD. Complete details on pricing and availability are available at www.cosport.com.

It is important for consumers to note that CoSport is the only entity authorized to sell Olympic Games event tickets in Canada.

CoSport currently plans to commence a second phase of sales in June 2011, on a first-come, first-serve basis for any remaining tickets unsold during the first phase of sales, and will also include any additional tickets CoSport may acquire from the London Organizing Committee (LOCOG).

On-line sales of hospitality packages are expected to begin in late March 2011. The hospitality packages will combine hotel rooms with Olympic tickets, allowing customers a single purchase to create their Olympic program in London. Unlike ticket sales there is no request phase and all sales phases of hospitality packages will be live sales on a first-come, first-serve basis.
