The Whistler Family Links Festival, a combined effort between Nicklaus North Golf Course, the Whistler Golf Club, the Chateau Whistler Golf Club and Big Sky Golf and Country Club and sponsors at Global TV, will take place this weekend with family team tournaments at all four courses, and other events.

Last week organizers confirmed that Brian Pavlet, the national long-drive champion, will be providing a public exhibition at the Whistler Golf Club on Saturday, May 21 at 11:30 a.m. and on May 22 at 11:30 a.m. His drives will kick off both days of tournaments.

Pavlet has performed at 750 exhibitions around the world, and is recognizable from Pinnacle golf ball commercials, as well as ads for Cobra golf and Penley Shafts.

In 2003-2004, Pavlet was the number one ranked long driver in the world, and can launch balls in excess of 400 yards. His blast of 435 yards is still a record at the world championships.

The Whistler Family Links Tournament is sold out, but you can find out more at www.golfwhistler.com. The tournament launches a new special by local clubs that allows kids from 10-18 to play for free if accompanying a paying adult.

On Saturday, the Whistler Golf Club will also present Zero Ceiling with a cheque for $3,500 as the recipient of the proceeds of this year’s Local’s Day fundraiser. The presentation will take place at 11 a.m. before Pavlet’s exhibition.
