Loonar Enduro a success

Saturday’s annual Bill Landry Memorial Loonar Enduro, a mountain bike race based out of the Alice Lake area, was a success with strong turnouts in every category.

The riders raced for six hours Oct. 30, seeing how many laps of Ed’s Bypass, and Rob’s and Cliff’s Corners they could start in six hours, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The last two hours were in the dark, with riders using lights to navigate their way around the course.

Matthew Rochetta and Ryan Edwards won the men’s team race with 17 laps. Kim Stegeman and Angela Langford were the top women’s team in the race with 12 laps. The top co-ed team, Debra Hughes and Mike Nelson, made 13 laps, the top Under 17 team was Daniel McKellar and Gavin Arnott with 16 laps, and the top Under 14 team was Matt Douglas and Adam Smith with nine laps.

In the solo category, J.C. Desforges was the top male with 15 laps, and Jude Goodwin the top woman with six laps.
