The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) want you to experience one of the resort’s ‘greatest amenities’ on Sunday, Jan. 17 with half-price cross-country skiing and snowshoeing at Lost Lake Park.

The open house, produced in partnership with Cross Country Connection, runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes 50-per-cent off all day and night tickets for cross-country ski and snowshoe trails, free hot dogs, gluten-free chocolate cake and hot apple cider as well as free hot chocolate for kids under 12. There will also be two outdoor fire pits as part of the winter-themed festivities.

All the events will be hosted at the Lost Lake PassivHause, a state-of-the-art, energy-efficient building located at the main entrance to the park.

“The trails are in pristine condition with the great snowfall we have experienced this season,” said Mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden in a release. “The open house is an excellent opportunity to check out the Lost Lake trail experience at special rates, as well as enjoy food and festivities at the famed PassivHaus. Bring your friends and family, and enjoy this amazing winter asset.”

Lost Lake Park offers 25 kilometres of cross-country trails along with 15 kilometres of snowshoe trails groomed daily. Four kilometres of trail are lit for night skiing beginning at 3 p.m.

The park and surrounding trails are closed for the season to walkers, runers, dogs and bikes. Skiers with dogs are welcome to use the groomed Valley Trail from Meadow Park to Rainbow Park as well as the Green Lake multi-use trail. Public parking is not available at Lost Lake Park.
