Lost Lake Shuffle this weekend

There are still spots available for the second annual Lost Lake Shuffle, a four-hour endurance and relay race around the Lost Lake cross-country ski trails.

There are still spots available for the second annual Lost Lake Shuffle, a four-hour endurance and relay race around the Lost Lake cross-country ski trails.

Skiers can race around the almost 4 kilometre circuit as a solo or as part of an all-male, all female, co-ed, or junior team of three. Three-person family teams are also welcome with kids of all ages, and race around a shorter 2 km track.

Whistler Cross Country Connection, the organizer of the race, has capped the number of entries at 100 this year, and they expect the event to sell out.

While many of the solo skiers and teams are competitive, Cross Country Connection co-owner and operator Chris Waller said the goal is to create a fun event for Nordic skiers in town, and create more exposure for the sport.

"We just wanted to get people out there and skiing, and discover how much fun it can be," he said.

Entry forms are available at the Cross Country Connection. The cost is $60 for a team, $25 for solos, and $45 for families. The prices go up on race day to $75, $30, and $55 respectively.

The race runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rentals are available from the Cross Country Connection.
