Lost ski stays lost when reward comes up

At 10:35 a.m. on Feb. 23 a skier contacted the Whistler RCMP to report that he had lost a rental ski on Whistler Mountain.

A 17-year-old male from West Vancouver found the ski and his mother contacted the rental company, which had stickers on the skis, to say that her son had found the ski, but refused to give it back unless he received a reward. According to the woman, her son was unemployed.

Because it was the rental shop dealing with the youth and not the man who lost the ski, a reward could not be negotiated.

The male who found the ski then refused to return it and said he placed it back in the snow on the mountain where he found it, leaving the male with a $600 bill to pay to the rental company.
