LUNA a go with or without snow

The LUNA Sasquatch Snowshoe race at Lost Lake Park on Thursday, Feb. 17 will be a go even if there’s not enough snow to shoe in.

An acronym for Late and Unique Nighttime Alternatives, LUNA hosts bi-weekly alcohol-free events for the bar hopping "young adult" crowd.

The Sasquatch race is set to take place in the wooded areas of Lost Lake Park with participants finding their way to the finish line and a chocolate fondue.

Racers must supply their own flashlights and snowshoes, should they be required. Snowshoes can be rented on race day at a discount rate with a LUNA membership card at the Escape Route after 3 p.m. and at Cross Country Connection after 7 p.m. Racers need only show up on foot if there is no snow to shoe in.

No experience is necessary to take part. Organizers recommend dressing appropriately for the outdoor event.

The race begins at 8 p.m. at the Lost Lake ticket booth. Admission is $2 for LUNA membership cardholders, $4 for non-members.

Call the LUNA hotline at 604-902-0769 for up to the minute updates on race day.

LUNA is also hosting a pair of late night hangout movie and games room sessions in the basement of MY Millennium Place tonight (Thursday, Feb. 10) and Thursday, Feb. 24. The events run 9 p.m.-midnight and cost $2 for members, $4 for non-members.
