LUNA event a chance to lose locks for a good cause

What: LUNA — Pool Party

Where: Meadow Park Sports Centre

When: Thursday, April 1

Tickets: $2

LUNA, Whistler Community Services’ weekly series of alcohol-free evening events offering adults an alternative to the bar and club scene, continues this Thursday with a pool party at Meadow Park Sports Centre set to funky house music beats by local DJ Milton.

Those who want to party are free to splash away, but those who want to party with a purpose will also get the chance to do something wild.

Co-ordinator Kiran Pal has arranged to have the event included in the Balding for Dollars fundraising initiative, meaning participants who want to shave their head to show support for cancer research will have the opportunity to do so.

Pal says one of the reasons she decided to host the fundraiser at the pool party was that she had heard reports from those who had taken the plunge in the past that there was nothing quite like the sensation of going swimming with a freshly shaved head.

The LUNA pool party kicks off at 9 p.m. and continues until midnight.
