The Whistler Mature Action Committee wants to develop seniors housing under the terms of the municipality’s new Affordable Housing Strategy and the revised Official Community Plan. The organization, which represents mature Whistler residents, would like to develop a senior resident housing complex that is not subsidized and which is restricted to members of MAC who are permanent residents of Whistler. A letter to council from MAC Chair Paul Burrows states that residents of the complex would have to have resided in Whistler for at least five years by the time the project is completed. The proposed complex is just a concept at the moment. No location has been discussed and council has yet to address the MAC’s request.
