MacIsaac brings Cape sound to town

Dubh Linn Gate Pub goers will get a taste of true Maritime spirit next week with a visit from acclaimed Cape Breton fiddler Wendy MacIsaac.

The front woman for the East Coast Music Award-nominated Celtic five-piece band Beaolach is touring westward as a trio with players Patrick Gillis and Buddy MacDonald. The trio will bring an authentic kitchen party vibe to Whistler’s only Irish-themed pub for four nights starting Monday, Jan. 3 and continuing through Thursday, Jan. 6.

MacIsaac has a long history as a performer starting out as a stepdancer at four years old. She began making her name as a fiddle player in the early 1990s.

Since then MacIsaac has performed with such luminaries of the genre as the Rankin Family, the Chieftains, the Barra MacNeils and her cousin Ashley MacIsaac. She has recorded three solo albums as well as two albums with Beolach.
