Male arrested for possession of handgun

Suspect tossed gun into bushes after visiting nightclub

A 21-year-old Vancouver man was arrested and is to appear in North Vancouver for the possession of a restricted weapon. Whistler RCMP arrested him after a tip from a local nightclub patron about a man who appeared to be wearing a bullet-proof vest.

The man was found by police on the Village Stroll. But when he was approached he was observed to toss something into the bushes. When the area was searched police recovered a semi-automatic handgun.

Police are asking that anyone who saw the man throwing something into the bushes to contact them at 604-932-3044.
