Heads turned Monday, April 28 on Highway 99 as two high-end vehicles were pulled over at Garibaldi Way in Squamish around 11 a.m.

RCMP stopped a 2014 Grey Maserati and a 2012 Black Ferrari.

Corporal Robert McDonald with the RCMP's E Division Traffic Services said the two cars were racing northbound on the highway.

"The two vehicles were following each other at high speeds, extremely close to each other and were observed swerving within their lane, which is known as warming up the tires," McDonald wrote in a news release.

The vehicles were reportedly traveling at 140 km/h in a 70km/h zone.

"As soon as the lead vehicle spotted the traffic services police car they both slammed onÊtheir brakes and reduced their speeds to 80km/h," wrote McDonald.

The two vehicles were pulled over without incident. The two drivers, both in their mid-twenties, were given tickets for excessive speeding and their vehicles were impounded for 15 days.

"It's scary to think that this dangerous and aggressive driving behaviour was occurring in the middle of the day when families are on the road and regular people are using our roadways responsibly for work and general travel," said McDonald.

"Excessive and dangerous speed puts not only the driver of the speeding vehicle at risk, but puts every other vehicle that is sharing the road in danger as well. Speeding greatly reduces reaction and breaking times, no matter what type of vehicle you are driving."

Human remains discovered in Emerald

The remains of a man aged between 55 and 70 years of age were found by a mountain bike rider on the morning of Saturday, April 26.

The discovery was made on the trail called No Girly Man near Highway 99 in Emerald. Staff Sergeant Steve LeClair said the Serious Crime Section was called in along with the BC Coroner Service to investigate the discovery.

"Police have determined that it's a non-suspicious death," said LeClair. "We have not yet identified the male."

The police and the BC Coroners Service are working together to identify the person.

Alleged drug users arrested

Two people are facing drug charges following an incident in an underground parking lot stairway at 12:50 a.m. on Friday, April 25 in Whistler.

LeClair reported RCMP members were on foot patrol in the village when they heard talking in the stairwell. Three people were gathered there. LeClair said a Whistler man was sitting beside a female from Ontario while another male was standing in front of them.

"One of the males was observed to be with what was believed to be cocaine on a cell phone in his lap as the female was leaning into it," said LeClair.

The RCMP noticed the other male had pills in his hand. Attempts to arrest the two men failed and they both fled, so the female was brought in and is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance and being drunk in public. LeClair alleges she also resisted arrest.

"A few hours later, one of the males attended to the detachment to enquire about the female," said LeClair. "He was arrested at that point for attempting to escape lawful custody."

He's also facing charges of possession of a controlled substance

Both are 25 years of age and have made initial court appearances.

Police are still looking for the other man.

Drugs recovered in Pemberton

Police used a search warrant to get into a home in the 7600 block of Pemberton Meadows Road on Saturday, April 26.

Three males were arrested in connection with the warrant. One man allegedly had cocaine and marijuana on him.

LeClair said the men ranged in age from 23 to 41. They are all scheduled for future court appearances.
