Chamber looking for May Day Being a Whistler local definitely has it’s advantages. When the snow flies, you have your secret stashes. When the summer arrives, you have your secret stashes. And when the May long weekend rolls around, it’s time for May Days — live entertainment, the launch of Whistler’s summer street performer weekends, merchant specials and featured menus, activities, contests and prizes. "We are very excited to be involved in may Days this year," says Thelma Johnstone, executive director of the Whistler Chamber of Commerce, which is organizing this years’ May Day activities. "This is a celebration for all Whistlerites to check out their own backyard and to experience all the great things that Whistler has to offer. May Days is an opportunity for the community and businesses to learn more about each other." To get your hands on the prizes, you’ll need a passport, which will be available in this paper on May 19. Passport holders who collect stamps from different businesses across the valley will be eligible for the grand prize draw, and for the other prizes to be given away throughout the weekend. All businesses and community groups in Whistler are invited to participate in May Days by offering their own prizes and promotions. There will also be an Activity Operators Trade Fair for local tour operators, who are invited to showcase their businesses. To register your business or community group, call the Chamber of Commerce at 932-5922.
