Medal ceremony ticket contest for locals open soon

Everybody has a strategy for attending the medals ceremonies at the Whistler Medals Plaza in February. Some choose tickets based on their own schedules, while others choose based on the musical acts and live entertainment taking place that evening.

Everybody has a strategy for attending the medals ceremonies at the Whistler Medals Plaza in February. Some choose tickets based on their own schedules, while others choose based on the musical acts and live entertainment taking place that evening.

Some sports fans will work around Team Canada's hockey schedule or pick nights that follow events where local athletes are competing - e.g. Britt Janyk in the women's downhill, Robbie Dixon and Manuel Osborne-Paradis in the men's downhill, or Mike Janyk in the men's slalom.

Whatever your strategy, corridor residents have an opportunity to win free tickets to events at the Whistler Medals Plaza through the Sea to Sky Residents Victory Ceremony Ticket Contest.

Starting at 9 a.m. on Jan. 4, you can submit your e-mail address at www.whistler.com/Olympics/locals for a chance to win tickets to the ceremony of your choice. The contest will run until midnight on Jan. 15, and winners will be notified by e-mail on Jan. 22.

Only one entry per e-mail address will be accepted - although you can submit multiple e-mail addresses and you need a Sea to Sky postal code.

Confirmed artists at the Medals Plaza include All American Rejects, Estelle, Pierre Lapointe, Feist, Our Lady Peace, Deadmau5, Hedley, Stars, OneRepublic, The Fray, Jet, The Roots, K'Naan and Usher.

As well, if you took part in the 100-day countdown celebration in Whistler and received a voucher for free tickets to the medals plaza you must redeem those tickets by Dec. 31.
