Memories made lead to season pass

If you want to win a season’s pass this year from Whistler-Blackcomb you’ll have to get a little creative.

It won’t be enough to just grin and bear freezing conditions and eat nausea-inducing concoctions as we saw during last year’s season pass contest: The Freeze Factor.

Participants will have to relive a favourite mountain memory, put it in writing and submit to a panel of judges to win.

"In the past 40 years, Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains have undoubtedly been a catalyst for creating great memories," said Stuart Rempel, senior vice president Marketing and Sales. "The idea behind this contest is to give all those who have been part of our history the opportunity to share their favourite memories with us and possibly win a season pass that will help to create new and incredible memories.

"We will then find ways to incorporate many of the entries into our anniversary celebrations throughout the year."

Whistler-Blackcomb is celebrating two major milestones this year: the 40th anniversary of Whistler and the 25th anniversary of Blackcomb.

Entries can be nostalgic, humorous, action packed or anything else that involves the author, great times and the mountains. The winning memory will embody the soul of the mountains and will help define what makes Whistler and Blackcomb great.

The winner will get a season pass for the 2005-06 season and have their story shared with the local community. A second season pass will be given away by drawing a random winner from all entries received. The judging panel will be comprised of Whistler-Blackcomb employees, the majority of whom have worked on the mountains for 25 years or longer.

Entries must be between 250 and 500 words and submitted by Nov. 14, 2005 at 5 p.m. For full contest details, rules and regulations please visit whistlerblackcomb.com/memory.
