Emergency services attended a residence on the 4,000 block of Northlands Boulevard just before 2 p.m. on June 14. According to the victims, they were replacing vinyl decking when a heat gun ignited the fumes of the glue they were using, bursting into flames. One male received second-degree burns to his arm and face, while the other two received scratches and bruises after jumping to the ground from the roof. All were treated at the Whistler Health Care Centre and released. There is no word of damage to the property, but the fire was contained to the deck.
Public's assistance sought in copper wire theft
A thief or thieves who stole a small amount of copper created a major headache for a business on Quarry Road in Whistler.
At roughly 1 a.m. on June 14 the thieves took a small amount of wire from a piece of machinery. The value of the copper was minimal but the cost of replacing it and repairing the equipment is significant.
This was only the latest theft reported in a string of copper wire thefts throughout Sea to Sky. In some cases the thief or thieves endangered themselves and possibly others.

No injuries after vehicle driven into Lillooet Lake
Five men from the Lower Mainland were treated for minor injuries after the vehicle they were driving went off the In'SHUCH'ch Forest Service Road into Lillooet Lake. The RCMP got the report on June 16 at 7 p.m., and the men were picked up and taken to the Pemberton clinic for assistance by a passer-by. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. Luckily all of the occupants managed to get out of the vehicle before it sank.
Pemberton Secondary vandalized
The RCMP in Pemberton is looking for the public's assistance in identifying the vandal or vandals who broke windows and damaged property at Pemberton Secondary last week. The damage was reported at 8:43 a.m. on June 16, and likely occurred over the previous night.
Windows were broken in the school and portables, and railings on portable steps were also damaged. The total cost is estimated at $4,000.

Fuel stolen from depot
Squamish RCMP is investigating after receiving a report of a break-and-enter on the 1,500 block of Pemberton Avenue. Roughly 2,500 litres of fuel was taken between 6 p.m. on June 13 and 7 a.m. on June 14.
It's believed the thief used a torch cutter to cut the locks and access the fuel from two tanks. A locked junction box also had its lock cut to power up the tanks, and a video recorder from the scene was also taken. Police are currently reviewing footage from other video surveillance cameras in the area.

Charges of assault pending against Squamish male
A 27-year-old Squamish male is facing charges of assault after a verbal argument turned physical and he grabbed a female and pushed her against a door, causing minor injuries. The RCMP answered the call at 12:30 a.m. on June 14, and spoke to the female victim. The male suspect, who had left the scene before the police arrived, is known to police.
Smart Meter taken
Residents are being asked to be wary of suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods after a BC Hydro Smart Meter was taken from a residence on the 4,100 block of Lawson Road in Squamish. The theft likely occurred sometime over the previous two weeks, and was reported to the RCMP on June 13.
It's not known why the meter was stolen, and the RCMP said that it's rare for the area; however, other smart meters have been reported stolen around the Lower Mainland.
