Some of Whistler's minor hockey teams may be on the road during the Olympics for playoffs after all, if mid-season rankings are any indication.

The Whistler Winterhawks Midget A1-Tier 3 team has a record of 8-2-2 to lead Flight 5 of the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association's 'A' category for teams. Squamish is third in the same division with a record of 7-4-1.

The Winterhawks' Bantam A1-Tier 3 team is now 9-2-3 to lead Flight 6.

The A1-T3 Peewee team has a record of 9-1-1 to lead 13 teams in Flight 4.

The Atom A1 team is now ranked fourth in their category, Division 2, with a record of 6-3-2.

The Squamish Atom A1 team is 13-2-1 and first in Division 3.

Several Lions Gate League "C" teams are also in the running for the playoffs this year. Leading the pack is the Bantam C1 team which is tied for second with three other teams with a record of 12-2, just one point back of the top team. There are 15 teams in their category this year.

Because of the demands on ice time and challenges travelling during the Olympics, minor hockey leagues pushed up their schedules this year to start playoffs sooner. However, some teams that progress all the way to the finals could find themselves playing after the Games are already underway.
