One of the dumbest things you can do as a criminal-other than, you know, breaking the law in the first place-is return to the scene of the crime.
But that's just what happened last Tuesday, July 2 when a Mission man allegedly ventured back to a Whistler village pub only two hours after he had reportedly assaulted a bartender.
Police were called back to the bar at about 2 a.m., where they found the suspect waiting outside. The 29-year-old was arrested on the scene for assault and held in custody until he was sober the following morning, police said. He was released with a promise to appear at a future court date.
Several cars broken into in Whistler Village
Police are investigating a series of reports of vehicle break-ins in Whistler village that came in over a two-day span.
Whistler RCMP said the detachment received four complaints on July 6 of vehicles parked in the village being broken into over night, followed by two similar reports the next day.
In all cases, police said the vehicles were entered through a smashed window.
Police continue to investigate.
Intoxicated North Van woman allegedly assaults cop following arrest
A North Vancouver woman police said was intoxicated was arrested last week after a subsequent search turned up drugs, according to a release.
Police responded to the call about an intoxicated female just before midnight on Thursday, July 4. The 38-year-old was then arrested and held "until she was no longer a danger to herself, or others," police said in a release.
While being searched, police said the woman fought with officers before they found a small amount of suspected cocaine in her possession.
She was released the following morning. Whistler RCMP has recommended charges of assaulting a police officer and drug possession.
Police find 'significant' amount of drugs on intoxicated Whistler man
A Whistler man was arrested for public intoxication this week only for police to subsequently discover "a significant amount" of drugs on him, police said in a release.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 7, officers observed a man on the Village Stroll who appeared to be "significantly intoxicated," police said. After being arrested, a search found he was in possession of cocaine and other drugs, police said.
Already on bail stemming from a drug-related charge the week prior, the 44-year-old man was released July 8 on certain conditions, one of which prohibited him from driving. At about 4:30 p.m. later that day, police observed the man operating a vehicle on Highway 99 near Function Junction. He was stopped and showed signs of impairment, police said. The man was arrested again for breaching his conditions, driving while prohibited, and impaired driving, and was held in custody until court.
