The BC Coroners Service is once again asking for help in identifying a man who was found dead near Highway 99 in April, releasing additional details of the deceased.
"There is every probability that this man's family is unaware of his demise, and authorities would like to contact the man's loved ones with details," said a BC Coroners Service release Wednesday, June 25.
The man, described as a Caucasian of medium build between 50 and 65 years of age and 5'6" and 5'10" in height, was found April 26 by a cyclist on a mountain-biking trail located approximately 200 metres from the highway near the mid-point of Green Lake.
He was wearing his long grey hair in a short ponytail tied up with a scrunchie at the time he was discovered, as well as a heavy black three-quarter-length winter coat with a fur trim, a dark blue fleece hoodie with bright yellow "NAVY" lettering on the chest. He was also wearing black Sportec jogging pants and Sorel winter boots, size 11, and was in possession of bifocal glasses and a dark backpack with a yellow "Academy of Learning" logo.
Additional details were provided in the latest release noting the man was found in possession of a red helium tank, of the type commonly used to fill balloons. The Coroners Service also indicated that the circumstances surrounding his death are "consistent with suicide."
He is known to have bought food at Nesters on Nov. 14, 2013, and is believed to have perished shortly after. He may have been suffering emotional distress at the time of his disappearance.
