The Pemberton Lions are hosting a Mothers Day pancake breakfast at the Pemberton Legion this Sunday from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Proceeds from the breakfast will go to fund the Pearls Place Safe House program in Pemberton and Whistler.
Pearls Place, a longstanding Squamish transition house for female victims of domestic violence and their children, recently established safe houses in the two other Sea to Sky communities. Safe houses provide temporary housing, for between one and five days, to allow women to explore options for changing their situation. Along with offering the short-term emergency housing, the program provides support and information, including referrals to other agencies and community resources.
Cost of the breakfast is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. All moms have a chance at taking home a special Mothers Day prize basket valued at $500.
