With up to 18 dirt bikes pinning it out of the start and into the first turn in every race, there are few events as exciting for spectators as motocross.
This Sunday, Oct. 3 the Green River Riding Club, which runs the Pemberton dirt track, will be hosting its first ever Canadian Motorcycle Association motocross race in the area.
The event, which is part of the Golden Harvest Series, will feature races with the youngest riders in the 65cc class, right up to adults on 125cc and 250 cc bikes.
To get the track ready, the club has shut the track on Thursday and Friday, and it will be open on Saturday for training only.
Local riders are invited to come out and race, and spectators are welcome. There will be a $5 admission, and the club will be selling hamburgers and hot dogs to raise money for the track.
Riders from around the province will be in Pemberton for the event, and organizers know of several locals who will be taking part as well. One of them will be Justin Patjas, a Whistler rider who recently moved to Garibaldi Highlands and captured the Novice 125 title at the Canadian Amateur Motocross nationals in July.
