Christopher Jon Banmen, a 47-year-old science and biology teacher at Lillooet Secondary, has been officially charged with sexual assault, sexual exploitation and production of child pornography after RCMP executed a search warrant at Banmen’s home on Aug. 31.

Banmen is accused of assaulting a 16-year-old girl, and was found in possession of two photographs of naked teenage girls that were known to him.

Banmen has been released on bail, with the condition that he cannot be in contact with children under the age of 18.

The Gold Trail School District 74 also confirmed that they have sent counsellors to the school to talk to students.
