Muddy A-Line draws a crowd

Organizers expected a smaller field due to the rain, but 85 riders still turned out for the third Phat Wednesday Downhill Series race on Wednesday, July 12.

Organizers expected a smaller field due to the rain, but 85 riders still turned out for the third Phat Wednesday Downhill Series race on Wednesday, July 12.

The course was A-Line, and several riders looked at the event as an opportunity to train for the upcoming Air Downhill race, which is part of the Crankworx festival July 22-30.

The next Phat Wednesday race is on Aug. 2, followed by races on Aug. 16 and Aug. 30. Registration starts just after 5 p.m. and the first riders come down at 6 p.m.

As always the sponsors at Kokanee, Sram, Nintendo, Fox WTB, Smith and Whistler-Blackcomb will be providing draw prizes.

To participate you must be a member of WORCA (memberships are available online or at the event sign-on), have a valid bike park pass, and chip in a $2 entry fee which includes race timing and refreshments.
