You never know what you’ll hear Grateful Greg morph into next.
Whether wailing out Zeppelin skyscraper melodies or cruising along Brown Eyed Girl cover favourites with the legendary Hairfarmers, the man just keeps on singing après and night.
Like many local music legends around town, he started out with nothing more than a passion for music and enough courage to check out local open mic nights.
Grateful Greg, along with fellow Whole Lotta Led buddy Creekside Phil, will begin hosting weekly open mic nights at Dusty’s, starting Wednesday, Jan. 18.
"Check your egos at the door," said Grateful Greg, alias Greg Reamsbottom. "It’s just about fun. It’s a great opportunity to do it and hear what it sounds like though a big PA system. It’s how I started out."
Of course what would an evening of Greg and Phil be without the odd Zeppelin cover here and there, giving musicians just wearing in their strings a chance to learn from the pros.
Bring a guitar, a voice and/or just yourself to the show. Guitars and bongos are available to all those willing to take the stage. Show starts at 9 p.m.

The 4 th annual Boot Ballet amateur night gives women their chance to live out their fantasy Saturday, Jan. 14 at the Boot Pub.
This is not the ballet your mom signed you up for, rather a daring exotic strip show with cash prizes doled out.
Since debuting in 2003, amateur night has become one of the most popular nights of the year at the pub with lineups spilling out the door and into the parking lots.
Last year more than 15 women bared all. Ladies are asked to sign up early by calling 604-932-3338.
Ready for a gay time
After the success of last November’s Whoossh! Martini Jazz Night, a fundraiser for the Gay Youth Crisis Line in Vancouver, Ski Out organizers are hosting a second gay and lesbian social event called Martini Soul Nights Saturday, Jan. 14 from 9 p.m. to midnight at the South Side Diner.
Expect drag queen entertainment, DJ sets and door prizes from the evening, which is raising funds for the charity Loving Spoonful in Vancouver.
Tickets are $7 at the door.
