Following on the success of the one-night Vagina Monologues presentation earlier this year, MY Place is bringing Vancouver’s Full Figure Theatre Company to Whistler for a July 27 performance of Way Too Blonde.
Billed as a "quick witted cabaret that satirizes female stereotypes in the media while weaving an intensely funny fabric of social comment," Way Too Blonde features several "situations" including: a sexual harassment trial, a haircut and a game show called Grovelling for a Groom.
London’s Time Out magazine calls Way Too Blonde "snappy, funny and incisive, with a clear target which it ruthlessly attacks. They bombard us with a rapid fire of sketch, song and biting burlesque."
The Full Figure Theatre Company has toured Canada, the U.S., New Zealand, England, Scotland, Hong Kong and Australia. They were voted Best ’o the Fringe in Melbourne and Pick of the Day at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Tickets for the July 27 show at Millennium Place are $32, which includes the 45-minute performance, hors d’oeuvres and two glasses of wine. Non-beverage tickets are available for $26. Cabaret time is 7 p.m.
New hours for museum
The Whistler Museum and Archives has changed its hours of operation for the summer.
From July 1 to Sept. 3 the museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
The museum is located next to the library in temporary facilities, at 4329 Main Street. The museum and library are raising funds for a new, permanent building. Find out more by dropping by the library or museum.
